Back in Business

Roughly six weeks ago my scanner, a Nikon Coolscan 9000 ceased to function. About two years ago the power supply unit was replaced however this time it was multiple lines running through the image making it unusable. It was taken to Nikon South Africa and because these are no longer made (although used models can be bought on Ebay for almost double their original value), I was anxious for it to be repaired. As a film shooter the scanner is the bottleneck, the Achilles heel and obviously the weakest link. Thankfully Nikon SA replaced a circuit board and it's working again and yes as always there's the dust issue and all the subsequent digital spotting, however the alternative was too horrible to contemplate. Let the struggle continue!

  1. I did not realise how prophetic my Cyberspaceman comment was. Looking forward to a great deal of laughs, wisdom, and revelation on this blog. Love the blown away picture.
